School Direct

Primary – School Direct PGCE with QTS, with options for enhanced training in Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS)

Fiveways Special School (Somerset Partnership Teaching School) and Huish Primary School  (Wessex Teaching School) work as one to lead an innovative school-led initial teacher training (ITT) programme, combining expertise from both special education and mainstream primary. Both schools are rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted and are proud of their respective Teaching School status.

Trainees undertake placements within a valued partnership of highly regarded Somerset schools, providing a range of contrasting experiences and opportunities to learn and teach alongside excellent teachers, and gain qualified teacher status (QTS).

In addition to QTS, trainees also qualify with a Post Graduate Certificate in Education qualification (PGCE), accredited by the University of Exeter.
